We were
privileged to have the Rev. James Dunn, former Executive Director of
the Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs in Washington, DC, and
our own Rev. Dayle Scott, former staff member for ABCW, ABC/USA and ABSW
lead us in "How to Get Along: Dealing with Difference in the Church,"
a model of how to deal with conflict in the church.
Patterned on the format of the current Jerusalem Council process being
used by the Ministers Council nationwide, the process included "lectio
divina," a slow and meditative reading of the 15th chapter of Acts.
Sixteen members of the Ministers Council attended, and all felt that
it had been a wonderful time of reflection, prayer, and strengthening
our relationships in ministry.
Thanks to Rev. Ray Miller of Alameda First for providing photos of the
day.
