D. Andrew KilleRev. D. Andrew Kille, Ph.D., Consultant

We offer an approach to planning and leadership development that integrates both careful fact-based analysis and value-based decision-making, especially for non-profit religious, academic and community service organizations. We employ perspectives and tools from psychology, spirituality, communications technology and organizational development to deal with both long-term, “big picture” issues and immediate problem solving and skills development.

If you're interested in going beyond organizational development to genuine organizational transformation, freeing the inherent gifts and energies of your group, we can help.

  • 25 years experience in pastoral ministry; 10 as a Senior Pastor
  • Experienced teacher in adult education and University level courses
  • Excellent speaker and writer; author of Psychological Biblical Criticism (Fortress Press, 2001)
  • Strong listening and analytical skills- able to systematize and find convergence in complex discussions
  • Experience in multi-cultural settings, working with people of diverse ethnic, cultural, social, educational and religious backgrounds
  • Peacemaking and reconciling; able to work with a variety of people and situations

Strategic Planning

Organizational planning, whether for the short term or the long term, must not only manifest the values and purpose of the organization, but enable those who make decisions and carry out the work to express their unique skills and talents. Effective planning involves both hard-headed thinking and soft-hearted concern for people who will serve and be served.

Experience:

  • Member of Planning Team, Diocese of San Jose; responsible for gathering, compilation, analysis and reporting of data for two year process involving input from over 18,000 people.
  • Chair of Strategic Planning Committee, Pacific Southwest Conference on World Christian Mission; guided 80 year old organization through process of reorganization to address changes in constituency and focus
  • Developed planning processes and led planning retreats for a number of churches and community organizations

Connecting People and Technology

The explosion of technology in recent years has brought powerful tools for communication into the reach of nearly every person and organization. Sadly, the "bells and whistles" and push for continual upgrading too often interfere with the tasks that must be done. We can help you find appropriate tools to help your work and train workers in using them, employing plain, non-"techie" language.

Experience:

  • Developed e-mail discussion lists for several nonprofit groups, including the Graduate Theological Union and the Diocese of San Jose; using both in-house and third-party service providers
  • Presented workshops on effective use of the World Wide Web and e-mail communications for nonprofit organizations
  • Developed and implemented electronic maillists and newsletters
  • Provided technical support and training for users in clear and non-technical language
  • Expert in a variety of office and desktop publishing applications such as Adobe Acrobat, PhotoShop and Publisher; Microsoft Office; WordPerfect Office; and ACT

Website Development

Website development requires attention above all to the message that needs to be communicated. Good design will take in to account the purpose of the site in the organization's overall strategy and mission, the technological capability and accessibility needs of users and the cost of resources needed to provide a meaningful website interaction.

Experience:

  • 10 years of experience as a webmaster involved in all phases of web design for nonprofit groups, including site architecture, content development and formatting (including graphics) and site promotion
  • Experienced in a variety of graphics and web development applications including Adobe Acrobat and PhotoShop; FrontPage; and Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks

Teaching, Training and Development

Teaching and training adults is a different enterprise than teaching children and youth. Adults bring life experience, differing learning styles, and cultural, social and economic filters to the learning process.

We can provide workshops and retreats on spiritual development and psychology, software and technical training in plain language and leadership training for boards and staff.

Experience:

  • Teaching experience at University, College, and Secondary School levels.
  • Developed and led dozens of workshops on a variety of subjects, including religious, technical, historical and organizational issues
  • Developed a training manual and implemented a training process for volunteer conference leaders for an annual educational conference attended by more than 500 people
  • Developed a manual for parish administrators and led regular gatherings designed to enhance their effectiveness in the Diocese of San Jose

Group Skills

The diversity and complexity of today's society presents special challenges for those working with groups. There is great potential for conflict arising from differing personality types, cultural differences and/or unspoken assumptions. We can provide training in cultural sensitivity, multicultural organizations and conflict resolution.

Experience:

  • Experienced in group process and facilitation in a variety of settings and with people of differing backgrounds
  • Experienced in dealing with both individual and collective psychological dynamics in the group setting, including conflict resolution
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
